Che Esperienza! Ho appena concluso il corso “Training from the Back of the Room” e ho ancora gli occhi e il cuore pieni di entusiasmo.

Barry’s workshop was the most impactful I’ve attended. His clarity and passion brought to life a revolutionary perspective on software architecture, making success feel intentional rather than magical.

12 years ago I watched Alberto’s event storming as it came to life, attending Vaughn Vernons iddd course.
Now 12 years later, it feels like we are on the brink to something new with Residuality Theory. Well done, Avanscorperta!
Grab a copy of Barry’s book. Attend the workshop. A simple powerful way to discover and make architecture choices explicit. Would recommend Barry as trainer any day, super deep knowledge about software architecture, with a boatload of Irish sarcasm and wide perspective on our industry. Tomorrow I will start walking the path, apply stressors, moving architectures towards criticality. Always with Barry on my shoulder supporting me, whispering, you are “wrong”, but heading in the right direction:) You cannot beat complexity, but you can stack the odds, let Barry help you.

Attending the Advanced Software Architecture workshop has been a turning point for me.
Barry’s approach opened my mind to new ways of thinking about architecture: more adaptive, more contextual, and definitely more human. But it didn’t just change how I see software architecture; I’d also consider it a course that helps you grow on a personal level.
It gave me tools not only to deal with complexity in systems but also to improve my soft skills, my way of thinking, and how I approach problems in general. I left the workshop with practical insights and the motivation to revisit some of the decisions I’ve made in the past. If you’re serious about becoming a better architect and a better thinker, this experience is absolutely worth it.

This is a really great workshop about the Event Sourcing pattern, during which I had many “eureka” moments. It’s a perfect mix of theory and practice with insightfull discussion. Plus all instructions on the private channel with latest links make the experience really smooth. Well done!

OOPSI is the next evolution of a very useful tool like Storymapping and makes it a lot more useful for teams to work with.

I recently had the pleasure of attending the “Event Sourcing: Practical Introduction” workshop by Oskar. I must say, it was one of the most enlightening experiences I’ve had in a long time. Oskar’s depth of knowledge, clarity in communication, and real-world examples made complex concepts easy to grasp. Thanks to him, I now have a profound understanding of event sourcing. I wholeheartedly recommend Oskar for anyone keen on delving deep into the subject or looking for a knowledgeable and effective teacher. Thank you, Oskar, for an incredible learning experience!

I highly recommend Oskar’s workshops. I participated in Oskar’s three day workshop for “Production Grade Event Sourcing”. I was unsure what to expect from the workshop, but I had high hopes of finding answers to questions I had as my team moved our system into production. I learned so much during those three days and was able to immediately apply the learning to my work.
Oskar went above and beyond by taking the time to ask each of us where we were in our Event Sourcing journey. He was able to tailor material and notes based on how different people in the workshop were implementing their system. He took time to answer questions and was very knowledgeable in the topics.
The workshop includes many hands on exercises, including event storming, example mapping, event stream design, and coding exercises. Participants also received plenty of material to download so that it could be referenced later.

Barry’s core idea of residuality is pretty simple, but absolutely not trivial nor legacy.
The fancy takeaway is that, even with its simplicity, it enables a very effective new approach to system architecture evaluation and review. In the meantime, he defines an easily computable numerical metric that allows you to measure whether your reviewed solution is improving or not compared to the previous iteration.
Being simple and effective makes it really worth investigating, even if adopting it may require reviewing—and possibly dropping—some legacy tools that have repeatedly failed to deliver the expected insights, regardless of the amount of praise and words spent preaching them.
